By plane: Straight flights to Tampere from Stockholm, London Stansted, Milan (Bergamo), Frankfurt (Hahn), Bremen, Dublin and Riga. (see ryanair.com, blue1.com) If you´re planning to take a flight to Helsinki, it's advisable to check also how much extra it costs to take a connection flight to Tampere. In some cases it is not much extra at all. There is a shuttle bus from the Tampere airport to the railway station. Paunu Bus nr 61 operates between the Airport Terminal 1 and city centre timetables tel. 0100 29400 http://www.paunu.fi/english.html. From Airport Terminal 2 to Tampere Railway Station operates Tokee bus, timetables tel. 0200 39000 (calling from Finland), +358 3 383 5444 (calling from abroad).

You can also fly to Helsinki and come to Tampere by bus or train.
By bus: straight from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Tampere (~25€).
By train: from Tikkurila–railway station. To get there take bus nro 61 (2,50€) from the airport to Tikkurila-railway station (direct). Train from Tikkurila to Tampere (~27€/person).
By taxi: taxis are very expensive in Finland. About 15 minutes journey about 15€. Taxis are safe to use.
Car hire: there are some car rental firms at Helsinki-Vantaa airport. Europcar, Avis, Hertz – check the rates and availability at their own www-sites. It’s very easy to drive from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Tampere via motorway.
